All the single ladies...

Yesterday was the last induction day for new teachers and to celebrate, our school took us to a very posh restaurant on the Bund – which is a very long pathway along the river. The food was gorgeous and the Bund is a lovely place at night when all the big city buildings are lit up. We all stopped to take a group picture by the river and many random Chinese people were taking pictures of us or were just joining the group in order to be on the picture... I told you, they’re really random people! Who wants to have a picture of strangers in their photo albums? Weirdos!

Today, all the teachers were back to school for the first inset day of the school year. I met the Modern Languages department – well, the three of them really, it’s a small department – and I got to know some members of staff... Once again, I was quite disillusioned, as many teachers I met are married and/or have children... Where the f*** are the single people in Shanghai?!...
